Dirt Kart racing in Alice Springs. Fun for the whole family, free for spectators
Alice Springs Karting Club originated in1987 by a group of enthusiastic
petrol heads seeking an affordable thrill of speed and excitement that
didn't break the bank each time you crashed.
When you did crash there was an ethic amongst everybody to make
sure you were on the start grid for the next heat, an element of the club
members that lives strong 24 years later.
Our club is so fortunate to have founding and long term members still
racing that continue to abide by and install that ethic into the new and
current members. With encouragement and just enough technical
knowledge to keep everybody competitive they are well respected
within the club.
We are a unique club in the context of being so remote, the closest
AIKDKA affiliated track is 700 km away so racing on different
tracks and surfaces can pose quite a challenge and many hours on
the highway. It must be that Territory spirit that has given the
ambition and drive to compete against the best in the country
being represented at many state and national title events.
Proudly we can reflect back over the years at the achievements of our
past and present members claiming state and national titles and
podium finishes, with members even progressing to national status
on the sprint car speedway scene with James Mcfadden winning the 2010
Australian title.
Alice Springs hosts the annual Northern Territory titles every year,
as it is the only dirt kart track in the territory, with competitors traveling
from South Australia and Western Australia. Many competitors return
annually because they enjoy the track surface and layout, and the
hospitality of the local members. This event is achieved successfully
by the support of the members, local business and importantly the
contribution of volunteers. This was evident for the 2010 titles when
the track was under water five days before the event. The combined
effort to produce a race meeting was a great effort.
